Getting started

What happens after you order, and the first steps to get your server running and your friends connected.

What happens after you order

Setup is automatic and usually finishes within minutes. When it finishes, PlayDubious emails you a message titled "Your PlayDubious server is ready". It lists your plan, your server address, a link to the panel and a link to the billing portal. Stripe sends a separate receipt.

If this is your first server, we create a panel account with the email address you paid with, and the panel sends you a second email with a link to set your password. Check your spam folder if you do not see either email. If nothing has arrived after 15 minutes, email [email protected] and tell us the address you used at checkout.

Set up your panel login

  1. Open the link in the panel's email and choose a password.
  2. Go to panel.playdubious.com and sign in with your email address and that password.
  3. Turn on two-step verification with an authenticator app. It is required for every account.
  4. Open your server in the panel.

Start the server and share the address

  1. Open the Console tab. The server installs and then starts on its own.
  2. Minecraft only: the first time it starts, the console asks the server owner to accept the Minecraft EULA. Accept it there.
  3. BeamMP only: paste your own AuthKey into the Startup tab before you start the server. The BeamMP guide has the steps.
  4. Copy the server address from your welcome email. The Network tab lists your ports as well.
  5. Send the address to your friends and join.

What to do next

  • Open the Startup tab to set your game's options. The guide for your game, linked from the docs home page, lists what is there.
  • Look at the Schedules tab for the nightly restart and the Backups tab for your backup slots.
  • Invite friends from the Users tab instead of sharing your login.
  • Read Panel basics for a tour of every tab.
