Before you start
These plans are for DayZ on PC. Your settings are on the Startup tab and your files are in the Files tab. Players join with the server address from your welcome email.
Change server settings
Open the Startup tab. The serverDZ.cfg settings are there, including the server name, the maximum number of players, the server password and the admin password. Several gameplay options sit on the same tab, such as third-person view, the crosshair and the time multiplier. Changes apply the next time the server starts.
Add Steam Workshop mods
- In the DayZ Launcher, open the Mods tab and choose the mods you want.
- Export the list. The launcher saves it as
modlist.html. - Upload
modlist.htmlto the main folder of your server with the Files tab or SFTP. - On the Startup tab, check that the modlist file setting is
modlist.html. - Restart the server and watch the Console tab while the mods download.
Mods download and update every time the server starts, including the nightly restart, so you do not have to update them by hand. Players need the same mods installed.
Server-side mods
Two more settings on the Startup tab are for mods you manage yourself. Additional Mods loads mod folders you uploaded to the main folder, separated by semicolons. Server-Side Only Mods loads mods that run only on the server, so players do not need them.
If players cannot join
- Players need the same mods installed, at the same versions. Verify Signatures is on by default and kicks players whose mods do not match the server's.
- Players need the same game version as the server. Enforce Game Version is on by default and only lets in players on the server's version.
- Check the server address from your welcome email, and look at our status page.
Restarts, updates and backups
The nightly restart is on the Schedules tab, and times there are in UTC. DayZ has no in-game warning before the restart, so tell your players when it happens. DayZ plans include 3 to 4 backup slots, depending on the plan. See Backups and restores.
