ARK: Survival Evolved server guide

Set rates, difficulty and PvE options for an ARK: Survival Evolved server on PC.

These plans are for ARK: Survival Evolved on PC. They are not for ARK: Survival Ascended. All ARK plans run on our high-memory dedicated nodes.

Set rates and difficulty

  1. Open the Startup tab.
  2. Set the multipliers you want. A value of 1 is the normal rate.
  3. To set the wild dino level cap, use Official Difficulty Override. The cap is about 30 times the value, so 5 gives level 150. Set Difficulty Offset to 1.0 for the full cap.
  4. Restart the server from the Console tab. Changes apply the next time it starts.

The multipliers on the Startup tab include:

  • experience, taming speed and harvest amount
  • day cycle speed and night time speed
  • how fast player food and water drain, and how fast tamed dinos get hungry
  • breeding: mating interval and speed, egg hatch speed and how fast babies mature
  • crop growth speed and how fast resources respawn

Max Tamed Dinos is a hard cap on tames across the whole server. Raising it costs more RAM.

PvE options

PvE Mode stops players and structures being damaged by other players and tribes. With PvE on, you can also turn off structure decay and choose whether flying creatures may carry players. Switching between PvP and PvE is a big change, so agree it with your tribe first, and make a backup before you switch.

Player options

Several on/off settings on the Startup tab change what players can do: the third-person camera, the crosshair, the player's own marker on the map, and a respec setting that lets players use a Mindwipe Tonic at any time.

Name, map and passwords

The session name, map, maximum players and passwords are on the Startup tab too. Set your own admin password there, and use the server password setting if you want a private server.

Nightly restart and backups

The nightly restart is on the Schedules tab, and times there are in UTC. ARK plans include 3 to 5 backup slots, depending on the plan. See Backups and restores.
